Tracy Smith

For over 30 years, Tracy has worked at the intersection of business needs and technology, successfully improving and streamlining many IT service teams and processes. Currently, he is the Director of Service Support Operations for Information Technology Services at the University of Virginia, where his areas of responsibility include major and minor Incident Management, the UVA Help Desk, IT Service Request Operations, Accounts & Access Management, Cloud Application Management, and Enterprise Licensing.
Prior to UVA, Tracy spent 22 years in the Rental Equipment industry in Virginia and Colorado, most recently as the VP of Information Technology at a rapidly growing nationwide rental equipment business specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Tracy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and in Computer Information Systems from Eastern Mennonite University, has achieved ITIL® v4 Managing Professional and Strategic Leader certifications.
Tracy enjoys spending time with his wife, five sons and their families and grandchildren, and volunteering by providing IT oversight for several non-profit organizations.
